Margaret B. Hunter, CPA
North Carolina Certification # 15693
I grew up in the mountains of California near Yosemite National Park and graduated from San Fransciso State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. After I moved to North Carolina, I attended UNCW for accounting courses and was licensed as a CPA in 1986.
I am currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA).
My passions outside of accounting are traveling, reading, cooking and gardening. I am still experimenting on what plants are deer resistant and how to make the perfect loaf of bread, but I have decided these are life time tasks.
Ian F. Hunter
I was lucky enough to be born in the most beautiful county in England and to grow up in spectacular East Africa (or as Winston Churchill described it, "The pearl of Africa"). I began my working career as a marine engineer and had the marvelous experience of traveling the world on tankers, bulk carriers, and cruise liners. After moving to the United States I enjoyed a twenty-four year career as a manufacturing and project engineer before joining Margaret's firm in 2006. I hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, England and a master's degree in Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
My passions are striving to stay healthy through exercise and eating home cooked food made from scratch (I am fortunate that Margaret is a wonderful cook!), gardening (which is also great exercise), new travel experiences, and enjoying my family. I became a pescatarian thanks to my dear friend Rugs. No more, as George Harrison put it, "Eating cows (and pigs and sheep and chickens) with such persistence".
Maryann L. Birgel
I was raised in the sailing capital of the world Annapolis, Maryland. While raising my four children I worked in property management and for a non-profit organization. After my husband retired we decided to leave the cold winters behind for the warmer climate in North Carolina. I joined Margaret's firm in June 2015.
I enjoy spending time with my growing family - four grandbabies with one on the way! I enjoy my morning walks with girlfriends, relaxing at the beach and exploring new places here in North Carolina. I believe that things aren't important - people are and they should be treated with loving kindness.
