Margaret B. Hunter, CPA
North Carolina Certification # 15693
I grew up in the mountains of California near Yosemite National Park and graduated from San Fransciso State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. After I moved to North Carolina, I attended UNCW for accounting courses and was licensed as a CPA in 1986.
I am currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA).
My passions outside of accounting are traveling, reading, cooking and gardening. I am still experimenting on what plants are deer resistant and how to make the perfect loaf of bread, but I have decided these are life time tasks.

I lived all over the US as a child and received my Bachelor's degree in accounting from the Univerisity of New Mexico. Except for a two year stint as a bank controller, my professional career has been spent in public accounting in the taxation area of expertise.
For the past 10 years I've divided my time between the ocean and the desert. The first half of the year was spent working tax season out west at a job I loved, and the second half was spent back home in NC at our beautiful beaches. I'm thrilled to finally combine the two, a great job by the beach!
Besides the beach, my favorite ways to while away the hours are reading, gardening, binge watching Netflix and visiting all the amazing attractions Southeastern NC has to offer.

I was lucky enough to be born in the most beautiful county in England and to grow up in spectacular East Africa (or as Winston Churchill described it, "The pearl of Africa"). I began my working career as a marine engineer and had the marvelous experience of traveling the world on tankers, bulk carriers, and cruise liners. After moving to the United States I enjoyed a twenty-four year career as a manufacturing and project engineer before joining Margaret's firm in 2006. I hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, England and a master's degree in Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
My passions are striving to stay healthy through exercise and eating home cooked food made from scratch (I am fortunate that Margaret is a wonderful cook!), gardening (which is also great exercise), new travel experiences, and enjoying my family. I became a pescatarian thanks to my dear friend Rugs. No more, as George Harrison put it, "Eating cows (and pigs and sheep and chickens) with such persistence".

I grew up a "high-tider" on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and have been in Wilmington since 2003. I received my bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (GO SEAHAWKS!) I've been doing income tax returns professionally since 2005 but, began with my family and friends in 1997.
My passions include volunteering, Olympic Weightlifting, food and animals. I've recently been designated as "Crazy Cat Lady" by my neighborhood stray cats. They come to me for food, comfort and cuddles!

I was raised in the sailing capital of the world Annapolis, Maryland. While raising my four children I worked in property management and for a non-profit organization. After my husband retired we decided to leave the cold winters behind for the warmer climate in North Carolina. I joined Margaret's firm in June 2015.
I enjoy spending time with my growing family - four grandbabies with one on the way! I enjoy my morning walks with girlfriends, relaxing at the beach and exploring new places here in North Carolina. I believe that things aren't important - people are and they should be treated with loving kindness.
